Choose the work the room needs: a small repair is a service in its own right, not a requirement to replace the kitchen.
WHAT THIS SERVICE MAY INCLUDE
Start with the item or room being changed. Repair, selected replacement and complete refurbishment are different scopes.
Repair or adjust damaged cabinet doors, hinges and drawers, including alignment with adjoining fronts. Check the condition of the retained cabinet before selecting compatible replacement hardware or deciding on a wider change.
Undertake the agreed cabinetry and benchtop work, from selected replacements to a larger kitchen update. Record what is retained, the chosen products, measurements and who supplies each item.
Include the agreed splashback tiling, wall repairs, painting, trims and floor-finish interfaces. Work around adjoining rooms is included where specified, rather than assumed to be part of a cabinet-only job.
Bring the layout, cabinetry, benchtops, appliances and finishes into one project. Appliance dimensions, removal, supply responsibilities and any licensed plumbing or electrical connections are confirmed in the agreed scope.
PLANNING THE WORK
The right scope depends on what is staying, what is changing and how the kitchen connects to the rest of the home.
Retain suitable parts of the existing kitchen and agree a defined set of changes, such as selected cabinetry, splashback or surrounding finishes. A cabinet-door repair is one example of local work, not a full kitchen renovation.
Consider the layout, cabinetry, benchtops, appliances and finishes together. Existing items are not assumed to be removed or retained until the scope records that decision.
Product dimensions, supply responsibilities and availability need to be checked before the existing kitchen is taken out. Do not treat a preferred start date as confirmation that every selected item is ready.
Discuss cooking arrangements, access through the home, material storage and the adjoining rooms affected by the work. A staged plan and a single continuous renovation have different practical constraints.
Distinguish repair of existing cabinetry from replacement, and confirm what is included for benchtops, splashbacks, appliances, removal and surrounding finishes. Keep supply-only items separate from supplied-and-installed items when comparing quotes.
