Define one room before expanding the work
A wall repair, new skirting and a full room repaint have different preparation and finishing boundaries. Photograph the whole room as well as the damaged or dated area, then say which existing finishes, fittings and cabinetry should remain.
- List the room dimensions and the surfaces included: walls, ceiling, doors, trims or cabinetry.
- Separate essential repairs from optional finish changes so quotes can be compared on the same scope.
- If a surface is damp or movement is visible, describe it before asking for a cosmetic finish; the cause and any required trade need assessment.
